Project Description:The objective of GIS based Resource Planning Tool is to add value to the various communication network operators. The tool helps improve performance by providing appropriate functions for technical planning, market assessment; subscriber base and roll-outs. In addition, the tool provides adequate operational support, and significantly enhances monitoring and aids the decision making process.

The Planning Tool can augment and create nation-wide geographic and market databases which supports analysis and decision-making for the prospecting process, coverage planning, and allocation of resources in the sales area. The Tool can support technical planning and design activities like Radio Frequency Planning/Backbone Planning/Transmission Planning.

Geographic data provided were derived from 2.5m resolution Cartosat and 5.8m IRS P6 LISS IV MX. The Geo-database provided as part of the Planning Tool contains various demographic parameters like population density, income strata, no. of households, occupational patterns, commercial areas, industrial clusters, tourist destinations etc. The customer can use these to have a thorough understanding of the market and strategise accordingly.
