Environmental Impact Assessment of Baggase based Cogeneration Power Projects in Maharashtra- Urjankur FundLocation: Maharashtra Project Description:Government of Maharashtra (GoM), through the Ministry of Non-conventional Energy (MNE) have created the ‘Urjankur Nidhi’ (The Fund), with a primary focus of developing renewable energy projects in the State. The Fund is a contributory fund and has been constituted with the participation of GoM, banking & financial institutions along the lines of Public Private Participation model. Urjankur Nidhi is the scheme under Urjankur Trust and managing trustee is IL & FS Trust Company Limited (ITCL). To tap the potential of Projects in the state and expediting the implementation of such Projects, the Fund will initially target development in the bagasse based cogeneration power projects with cooperative Sugar Factories as stakeholders. The Projects will be developed under Built Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis and each Project will be domiciled in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), is constituted which will be the owner of the Bagasse based Cogeneration Project to be set up, adjacent to the Sugar Factories generating surplus power using Bagasse as main fuel. The SPV will export the surplus power thus generated to the state grid.
